Two Thurston County freeway closures this week will affect drivers using Tumwater and east Olympia ramps, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation, as reported by The Olympian and MyNorthwest.

Thursday night. From 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, until 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, WSDOT will close the ramps from US 101 to northbound I-5 and from Deschutes Way to northbound I-5 in Tumwater for pavement repairs, The Olympian and MyNorthwest reported, citing WSDOT. Signed detours will be posted. WSDOT asks drivers to allow extra time and slow down in the work zone.

Friday daytime. The southbound I-5 exit to Pacific Avenue (Exit 107) in east Olympia will close from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, The Olympian reported, citing WSDOT. Crews will do winter maintenance, including tree and brush work, guardrail repair and sweeping. The northbound exit to Pacific Avenue is scheduled to stay open.

Before you go. Schedules can shift with weather. Check the WSDOT app or the statewide travel map before you leave, and build in extra time if you normally use these ramps.
