South Bay PTA Fun Fair, trunk-or-treats and a haunted night market: Halloween events close to home
The South Bay PTA's Fall Fun Fair on Oct. 23 opens two weeks of free trunk-or-treats and family Halloween events around Lacey and Olympia. North Thurston schools are closed Oct. 29-30 for conferences.
The South Bay PTA will hold its Fall Fun Fair, with a trunk-or-treat, games and family activities, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, according to South Bay Elementary's calendar. It's the first of several free Halloween events for families around Lacey and northeast Olympia over the next two weeks.
Trunk-or-treats
- River Ridge High School: The school's AAPI Club hosts a free fall festival with a trunk-or-treat and games from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in the bus circle at 350 River Ridge Drive SE, Lacey. The school's calendar invites families to come in family-friendly costumes.
- Thurston County Project SAFER: A trunk-or-treat with games and candy runs 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at 412 Lilly Road NE, Olympia. No registration is needed. The main lot is reserved for decorated trunks, so the county asks visitors to park along Ensign Road or in neighboring business lots after hours.
No school Oct. 29-30. North Thurston Public Schools, including South Bay Elementary, Nisqually Middle School and River Ridge High School, will be closed Thursday and Friday, Oct. 29-30, for family-teacher conferences, according to the district calendar.
More Halloween fun
- Haunted Night Market season finale: The City of Lacey's night market closes its season with food vendors, local artisans, live entertainment and Halloween-themed features from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at The Depot in Lacey, according to the city.
- Día de los Muertos: A free community celebration with music, performances, activities and food from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Lydia Hawk Elementary, 7600 Fifth Ave. SE, Lacey. The nonprofit TOGETHER! hosts the event with a city grant, according to the city.
For a quieter afternoon. The Nisqually Reach Nature Center at Luhr Beach, 4949 D'Milluhr Road NE, hosts a two-hour nature sketching and journaling session at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. Tickets are $44.52 on Eventbrite.
