Second-Half Property Taxes Are Due Monday, Nov. 2, Because Oct. 31 Falls on a Saturday
Thurston County property owners have until Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, to pay second-half property taxes without late fees, the county treasurer says. Mailed payments must be postmarked by Nov. 2.
Thurston County property owners, including those on Johnson Point and across South Bay, have until Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, to pay their second-half 2026 property taxes without a late fee, according to the Thurston County Treasurer's Office.
The usual deadline is Oct. 31. Because that date falls on a Saturday this year, the county moved the last day to pay without penalty to the following Monday, the treasurer's office said in an Oct. 16 announcement. State law requires late fees on payments that miss the deadline.
How to pay
The county lists four ways to pay:
- Online at www.thurstoncountywa.gov/departments/treasurer. An electronic check costs nothing extra. Debit cards carry a 1% fee and credit cards a 2.3% fee, and the county says it receives none of that money.
- By mail to the Thurston County Treasurer, 3000 Pacific Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501. Payments must be postmarked by Nov. 2. The county warns that the U.S. Postal Service no longer guarantees a same-day postmark and urges people to mail early.
- Drop box: the green box near the flagpoles outside the Thurston County Atrium at 3000 Pacific Ave. SE.
- In person at the Treasurer's Office at the same address during business hours, with the same card fees as online.
